Codec is a device or program for encoding or decoding a digital data stream or signal, Codec encode data stream or signal for transmission and storage, usually Codec used for video conferencing, streaming media, and video editing applications, while 4:2:2 is a schematic image format is compressed to reduce file size (bitrate bandwidth) of the video signal is aimed to save time of transmission, however, this reduction results in almost no visual difference and scheme 4:2:2 is divided into two, namely:
  • 10-bit 4:2:2 image resolution SDTV
  • 10-bit 4:2:2 image resolution 1920×1080 30p/30i HDTV

The following devices are necessary to be able to open a channel with 4:2:2 codec: 
  • Make sure your Set Top Box/Receiver support web server for stream 4:2:2 codec (I Use Enigma 2 Dreambox 800 HD)
  • Router can use Wi-fi or LAN/Ethernet Cable
  • PC/Laptop or Smartphone 
  • VLC Player 


How To Connect: 
  1. Turn On your Set Top Box/Receiver
  2. Turn On your Router
  3. Turn On your VLC Player 
  4. Linking your Set Top Box/Receiver or Smartphone with Router use Wi-fi or Ethernet/LAN Cable (No Need Internet Connection)
  5. See and note IP Address on Set Top Box/Receiver in Menu - Network setting example your IP Address: 192.168.1.100
  6. Open Web Browser on PC/laptop or smartphone, you can use Chrome Firefox or etc
  7. Input the IP Address noted above on Web Browser 
  8. After appearing a web server/webif in the browser, select the channel using the codec 4.2.2 by pressing logo TV (stream) on the left side
  9. If you are using a smartphone, the channel will open directly through VLC Player
  10. If you are using a PC/Laptop, channel will be downloaded, select the file channel downloaded earlier and then open using VLC Player.
